Classic Challenge are the originators of Nightrider and many other worldwide charity challenges. We have been leading the way in charity challenges since we developed the concept in 1992. Over the last 25 years more than £100 million has been raised for hundreds of charities. 65,000 people have cycled, trekked, run, climbed mountains and ridden horses to all corners of the globe while taking part in a charity challenge event organised by Classic Challenge.
We created Nightrider to offer a challenging event in the UK which would appeal to both individuals looking for something different, and charities looking for an exciting event for their supporters.
The very first Nightrider took place in 2010 with 300 cyclists taking up the challenge. Since then the event has grown with over 21,000 people cycling around London, Paris, Bristol, Liverpool and Glasgow at night and over £9 million has been raised!
In 2020, we'll be back in London for the 11th year running, and we'll be heading to Bristol and Liverpool too.
Since the very first event for Classic Challenge in 1992, Gideon has played an integral role in many of our challenges. This experience of operating events around the world has been invaluable in Gideon's current role as Event Manager for Nightrider. His main responsibilities include developing the route and planning all the logistics involved.
Emma joined Classic Challenge in 2016, working on the administration of Nightrider. Her background is in event and conference organising, and she has a long experience of working with charities. She took over as Event Manager for Nightrider 2020 at the end of the 2019 season and is looking forward to working on the 2020 events!
