One of the world's most instantly recognisable buildings, Sir Christopher Wren’s creation is the latest in a long line of religious structures that have stood on the same site since 640 AD. Until 1972 it was the tallest point on London’s skyline, yet even without that particular distinction it remains one of the capital’s most cherished landmarks.
