The Oval
A short detour on our way back up to the Thames, the Oval is the home ground of Surrey County Cricket Club and was the venue for the first ever international football match (between England and Scotland) in 1870. Billionaire cricket enthusiast Sir Paul Getty was so taken with the stadium that he built a full-size replica on his estate in Buckinghamshire.
