Covent Garden
Now a popular shopping and tourist destination, Covent Garden originally served as a fruit and vegetable market dating back to the 17th century. Its tube station is one of the busiest on weekends, with some unsuspecting tourists paying the equivalent of £24.84 per mile to cover the 260m journey from Leicester Square on a single ticket - the shortest journey on the Underground network.
