Hampstead Heath
The ‘Heath’ is an area of 790 acres of ancient woodland, ponds, meadows and hedgerows that has been used since Victorian times as an escape from the bustle of central London. Less than 4 miles from Trafalgar Square, it boasts some of the most magnificent views of the city, such as that seen from the top of Parliament Hill. Legend has it that this was the site where Guy Fawkes and Robert Catesby had planned to watch the destruction of parliament after carrying out their infamous Gunpowder Plot in 1605.
